God’s Sovereignty, Inseparable from ALL His Other Attributes

"Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. "

1 Chronicles 29:11

While God’s Sovereignty is often referred to as another one of His attributes, we may also think of God’s Sovereignty as the very culmination or summation of ALL His attributes:

GOD is Sovereign because He is Absolutely Supreme in ALL His attributes.

God is Holy. Holiness is one of God’s attributes. Is there anyone or anything more Holy than God? No. God is the absolute power and authority when it comes to Holiness.

God is Righteous. Righteousness is one of God’s attributes. Is there anyone or anything more Righteous than God? No. God is the absolute power and authority when it comes to Righteousness.

God is Gracious. Graciousness is one of God’s attributes. Is there anyone or anything more Gracious than God? No. God is the absolute power and authority when it comes to Graciousness.

God is Merciful. Mercy is one of God’s attributes. Is there anyone or anything more Merciful than God? No. God is the absolute power and authority when it comes to Mercy.

God is All-Knowing (omniscient). Is there anyone or anything more All-Knowing than God? No. God is the absolute power and authority when it comes to Omniscience.

God is Eternal. Is there anyone or anything more Eternal than God? No. God is the absolute power and authority in all of Eternity.

And so it goes, for each and every attribute of our incomparable God!

As Arthur W. Pink declared, “Sovereignty characterizes the whole Being of God. He is sovereign in all His attributes.”

May all of God’s children agree in Christ, “Amen!”
